PENGARUH PROSES PACK CARBURIZING – QUENCHING PADA KEKERASAN BAJA AISI 1020

Salah satu aplikasi baja AISI 1020 adalah sproket sepeda motor. Baja ini masuk kategori karbon rendah dan masih memiliki peluang untuk di tingkatkan kekerasan permukaannya. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pack-carburizing yang dilanjutkan dengan pendinginan cepat (quenching) dalam minyak goreng terhadap 1020. Metode penelitian diawali memotong menjadi 7 sampel. Sampel kemudian dibenamkan serbuk arang batok kelapa pada sebuah container (50 x 50 70 (mm)). Kontainer ditutup lalu dimasukkan tungku dipanaskan 900 oC selama 2 jam. dikeluarkan dari timbunan langsung quenching ke goreng. uji metalografi. Hasil penelitian. Pack-Carburizing akan meningkatkan permukaan AISI.”Struktur mikro mengalami pack-carburizing-quenching berubah perlit-ferrit martensit.”Proses karburasi media udara normal kadar 0,217% 0,769%, 0,967%, 0,936%.
